You really can't go wrong in Brentwood! It is convenient to downtown Nashville, 10 to 20 minutes, depending on where in Brentwood you live, it is in Williamson County where there is a plethora of business opportunities and even a welcoming spirit for those who want to start new businesses.
Yet, with all that Brentwood has to offer, it is a peaceful, calm area of greater Nashville to call home.
Brentwood was incorporated in 1969. So, it is a young city but with a robust history of providing an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the downtown business district. And, many executives choose to work and live in this city as it's possible to keep your life pretty contained within Williamson County, assuming you aren't looking for entertainment! That's an area we may come up short. That's while it's important to know that downtown Nashville is just a skip away.
While there are two major areas of Brentwood that are zoned for commercial office and/or retail, these areas are tightly regulated. That means, simply, that Brentwood is generally thought of as a residential community. But the robust businesses in about twenty percent of the city drives about eighty percent of the city's budget.
Since day one in 1969, the city leaders teed up the city to be a one-house-one-acre community. Today, it still holds true to that code. Most homes in Brentwood are therefore on at least one acre. The exceptions to that are neighborhoods that were developed under and OSRD zoning, (Open Space Residential District) that allow the land to be divisible by an acre but homes may built on a smaller building envelope, leaving more green space for public use in the neighborhood, typically, a green space around the periphery of the develpment. With Brentwood build out at about 88 percent, it's unlikely that this planning will change. The good aspect of that is that, because the consistency of planning is unique to Brentwood, it's another factor that help keep property values bouyed where they are, the consiistently highest priced real estate in Williamson County.
Speaking of real estate, as I write this blog, February 3, 2022, the median price of a home in Brentwood is $1,250,000. The average is $1,450,000 for sales up through the end of 2021.

There are other aspects of Brentwood that make this city an attractive place for professions, families, young executives. Brentwood boasts 14 parks parsed throughout the city. They take their parks seriously! Through much of the east end of the city, there are a series of bike/walk trails that are mostly connected and intersect with many of the parks. Brentwood is serious about green space!
My wife and I have lived, worked, played and prayed in Brentwood for 25 years. We hand-picked this city as the place where we wanted to settile when we moved here in 1997. I have always been a proponant that, if you are going to make your livelihood in a city, you should give back to her. I have served in many volunteer capacities in city government, Brentwood Planning Commission, Brentwood Tree Board, Vice Chairman of the 50th Steering Committee to plan Brentwood's 50th celebration, representing Brentwood on Williamson County Board of Equalization, I've even run (unsuccessfully) for Brentwood City Commission. I've said many times, "There probably isn't a street in Brentwood that I haven't driven at least three times!" I write all of that simply to say, if you are looking to make a home for your family in Brentwood, I am probably a pretty good conversation and may be a very good broker to work with. I hope to speak with you soon.
